Last week we celebrated my niece's first birthday with a mermaid themed party. I loved this color combo so much - purple, aqua, lavender, and white. I piped and draped one wall in purple and created a balloon garland to hang over the dessert table.
There were lots of little nautical touches, like seashells and sand from our local beaches and "sea glass" rock candy and gummy sharks. The kids cooled off with water guns and squirters.
As usual, all of the desserts were homemade. I made pretty white chocolate strawberries with sprinkles and my sister in law made mermaid cupcakes and a smash cake.
My sister in law also hand painted a multi-colored mermaid scale backdrop for the gift table, which looked absolutely perfect with the decor.
We had so many more ideas for decorating, but the summer SoCal heat really slowed us down and we weren't able to finish everything we had set out to do. Still, it was such a pretty backyard party.
